The course, titled "Get Real! Draw Big!," focused on many different genres and techniques related to drawing-- figures, city-scapes, still-lives, invented subjects, designs, and abstract explorations of shade, volume and line. Meghan challenged students to work in all kinds of media, from graphite and charcoal to watercolor and sculpture.
This Wednesday, June 12th, was our last spring session and we enjoyed a much deserved end-of-term celebration at RHI. Students started off by drawing their favorite summer activities, had some refreshments, and showed off some of their hard work. Have a look at a few of their favorite pieces:
At the end of the class, each student was presented with a catalog showcasing the group's finished artwork. These catalogs remind students of their accomplishments and encourage them to keep pursuing the topics and techniques learned throughout the course.
After-School Programs are a vital part of K.I.D.S. Art Education and we are so pleased to be serving the amazing young people at Red Hook Initiative. Big thanks to our awesome TA Meghan and RHI's Jade, Ricky, Dani and Tiwan for their support throughout the program.
This summer, we will be holding our first-ever Summer Program at CJC and hope to get some more After-School sessions lined up for fall. We are excited to see what's in store for this fabulous program! Be sure to stay tuned!
