Thanks to the good folks at Good Shepherds Services, the Miccio Center, and our fantastic Teaching Artist, Ruth Wetzel, the Spring After School program with GSS was a huge success! Based on our Spring exhibition, "Circumstances," students focused on themes of chance and play. Throughout the course, they explored how game concepts could influence-- and even become-- art!
For their final exhibition and celebration, the students debuted their own custom made board games, complete with oversize dice, spinning wheels, and moveable characters. They worked individually and in pairs to create their unique game boards and devised the rules for play.
At 5:00 (even with the pouring rain outside) a number of parents arrived and refreshments were served. Students invited their parents to play their games, and then they moved around the room playing one another's games. Everyone had a great time and left feeling so accomplished!
We are so amazed at the work of these students! We can't wait to see what the future holds for our growing partnership at the Miccio Center! A big thanks again to everyone involved!
